Isca U18 Girls are Tier 2 National Champions!
Posted by Howie Ford on 6 September 2020
The U18 girls put on a gutsy performance to take home the title of National Champions after a thrilling 3-2 victory over Beeston. We took the lead from the start, with a team goal scored by Meg Watts putting us ahead within the first minute.
However, it didn’t take long for Beeston to equalise, forcing us to up our intensity and push for another goal, with Julia Spence slotting in our second shortly after. The ping-pong game continued, with Beeston once again equalising but the girls finished off the half strongly with a penalty corner conversion from Betty Stone.
Despite missing more scoring opportunities ourselves, we held the opposition off strongly throughout the second half to seal the win and take home the trophy.
On behalf of all the girls, we’d like to say a massive thank you to our super-organised manager Sam Perriam, our selfless and inspirational coach Anne Baker, and to the umpires, officials and everyone at England Hockey for making this final possible under current circumstances.
What a way to get the club into gear for the season!
Isca Hockey Club would also like to thank match sponsors Darts Farm for their support.
