Isca 2’s travelled away to face a feisty Taunton side. The game started at a high intensity, with Taunton winning their first short corner within 5 minutes of the game beginning. After being cleared by Isca’s defence, the game began to settle and both teams were evenly matched. Taunton were first to score a goal, coming from a counter attack down the right-hand side. Isca were quick to react to this, with the equaliser coming 2 minutes later: Billie Wood floated the ball into the D for a shot from Dizzy Leman that was quickly rebounded by Anna Mason to make the score 1-1.
The second half saw more end-to-end action, with forwards Freya Pelling and Julz Weller making quick runs into Taunton’s D for numerous short corner attempts. Taunton were quick to make the most of their first short corner in the second half; however it was disallowed by the umpire. A quick break down the right, which started from Izzy Watson and Sophia Seabrook, saw Freya make a superb run into Taunton’s D, the offload to Anna Mason meant she was able to get the shot into the back of the net but again the umpire failed to play this advantage. Although Isca lost, the score did not reflect Isca’s determination to play with etiquette and sportsmanship.
