Clubhouse Home Teas
Please note that cooked teas will be provided in the Clubhouse
from this weekend onwards. This has been a much demanded asset and it
is therefore expected that all home players and opposition will take
full advantage of this by a 100% return to the Clubhouse for post
match teas from now on. Please make sure that you introduce yourselves
to Kim Phillips, our catering manager, and make her feel welcome and
supported if there are any early stage teething problems.

2008 Summer School
On August 27th & 28th seventy boys and girls
aged 8 to 14 attended two days of training at Exeter University
pitches.
They covered a whole range of skills and were coached in the latest
techniques advocated by England Hockey which they were encouraged to
put into their game play.
This annual summer school has a high reputation for quality coaching
and is ideal for the young players about to compete for places in
their school teams and many who will play for Isca men's and ladies
teams in the new season. We hope to see many of them join us in
September for regular training.
Our thanks to organiser Jane Cornelius, coaches Graham Skinner, Ali
Marsh, Polly Salter, Nicky King, Liz Hodges, Alex Bulleid and Anne
Baker.
Particular thanks to our coaches Simon Tremlett, Simon Higgins, Hetti
Murray, Harry Rogers and GK coach Guy Orrell. These young people acted
as great role models for the young players and set standards for the
young players to aspire to.

Training Fees
Training Fees can be paid in advance to Penny
Tucker the Club Treasurer. Her contact details are on the Club

a saving of £12 and saves you remembering to take £2 with you each

and Incidents should be recorded and
reported as soon as possible. Forms for this purpose are available from
and returnable to the Club Membership Secretary.
Selection/Availability
The Selection Committee would like to bring it to the notice
of all players that there are a great number of players available
for selection each week. Therefore it is important that you visit the
Website early in the week to check the Selection Page and if there is a
genuine reason why you cannot play then please telephone your captain
immediately. 'Late Cry Offs' and 'No Shows' will ultimately affect
your selection. Please make sure you speak to your Captain
in person as messages and emails left are often missed.

COURSES
If there are any members or parents who would be willing to undertake the Leadership
Course or the Level One Coaching Award please contact me

Isca Junior Hockey Club is desperately in need of more adult support and
I am sure that there are mothers and fathers of junior members who are
already giving valuable help and assistance and maybe they would like to
achieve some of the Awards that are available. The Club has some funding
to support the cost of entry.
